Designed for those with a keen interest in the technical side of theatre, this exclusive experience offers a captivating glimpse behind the curtain.

Led by members of the knowledgeable Shakespeare North team, you’ll be given the chance to explore the inner workings of the key areas of the playhouse – the Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden and Cockpit Theatre – including the tech gallery and over-stage attic, gaining insights into the intricate systems that bring theatrical magic to life.

From lighting and sound to stage mechanics and set design, witness the mastery of technical elements that create immersive and unforgettable performances.

Please note:  Due to the nature of this tour, you must be comfortable with heights and have no mobility impairments of any kind. The age range is to be used as guidance but there does need to be a good degree of mobility in order to take part in the tour, as it goes to locations that weren’t built to be frequented by the general public.

All in attendance are asked not to bring any unnecessary objects on the tour, as any dropped items will be a significant hazard. There will be a secure, locked place where all attendees will be able to lock away items such as phones, keys, handbags etc to minimize dropping risk.

Areas covered in the tour will be technical working environments, and visitors must take extra care for both trip hazards and hazards at head level.
