Bicycle Face

A one-woman love story… about the bicycle.

Part theatre show, part joyful rebellion, Bicycle Face is a funny, fierce and heart-filled solo performance about one woman’s journey to freedom—on two wheels.

Created and performed by Dora Colquhoun, and proudly presented by Violet Arts, this show is inspired by the true histories of women who dared to ride. Bicycle Face weaves together myth, music, and movement to explore how the simple act of riding a bike became a radical act of liberation.

Our heroine? She can’t drive. Never could. But she can cycle. And through her bicycle, she finds not just freedom, but strength, community, and a few lessons in road rage (including the age-old ethical dilemma: is it ever OK to rip a man’s wing mirror off in fury?).

With physical theatre, storytelling, and original songs, Bicycle Face is a celebration of sweat, silliness and self-discovery. A love letter to bicycles, and to everyone who’s ever felt like the world wasn’t built for them—but rode on anyway.
