The Trial of Agatha Christie

“My name is Aphrodite the First, and tonight you are going to help me solve a mystery.”

Dame Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time. Famed for her murder-mystery novels, she was a pioneer in the world of crime fiction. She has become a cultural hallmark of the quintessentially British ‘cosy crime’. Her stage plays continue to run on the West End. But this notoriety does not hold her above the law. Especially in regards to her literary success – and the darker, lesser-known origins of what inspired her writing.

Step into HRH Aphrodite I’s ‘court of public opinion’ to put the Queen of Crime in the dock. Turning back to the 1940s, she’ll uncover the brutal murder of a foster child that sent shockwaves through Westminster and left newspaper readers horrified – all the while producing a play that would make theatre history.

The Trial of Agatha Christie is a participatory show about murder, injustice and artistic inspiration. While Aphrodite examines the facts and weighs up the arguments, your job is simple: determine the verdict and change the course of history.
