Community Cinema Volunteer (Media & Film Student Role)

Love film? Want hands-on experience in cinema operations, audience engagement, and programming?

Join us and help us create welcoming, inspiring screenings for all ages.

In partnership with Imagine Futures CiC, Shakespeare North Playhouse is launching a brand-new season of film screenings. From September 2025 to February 2026, our programme will bring people together through stories on the big screen — from family favourites and animated adventures to cult classics, local short films, and acclaimed new releases. We are looking for enthusiastic film and media students (age 17+) to join us as Community Cinema Volunteers.

Volunteer Hours

Approx. 4–6 hours per event – Family Screenings: Saturday mornings (with creative workshops) – Adult Screenings: Friday evenings (with short films & features)

What’s Involved?

  • Welcoming audiences and assisting with front-of-house duties
  • Conducting surveys with families and adults before screenings
  • Supporting creative workshops at family screenings
  • Learning about the process of selecting short films and programming a cinema season
  • Helping ensure screenings run smoothly and are accessible to all

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Must be a film or media student aged 17+
  • Friendly, approachable, and reliable
  • Passionate about cinema, storytelling, and community
  • Good communication skills and confidence with the public
  • Willingness to learn about programming and event delivery
