Our Building
Shakespeare North Playhouse is a brand new building and has been designed with accessibility in mind.
All levels of the building, with the exception of the Cockpit Theatre Floor and Technical Attic, are fully wheelchair accessible, including backstage areas for our team members and visiting companies.
There are accessible toilets on every level of the building and the ground floor also has a Changing Places and Family Room.
The lift to all levels is very close to the main entrance and foyer area of the building. Everything is well signposted and our staff are always happy to help.
The Cockpit Theatre has been modelled on Inigo Jones’s 1629 designs, which has stepped access into the ‘pit’ of the theatre. This means accessible access to the theatre is on Level 1 and Level 2 of the building, which you get to by taking the lift.
