We offer regular family activities, community sessions and events here at Shakespeare North Playhouse, inviting our communities to share in the joy of our theatre through fun, practical and informative sessions.

Our Regular Events

Here are the activities that are available throughout the year for adults. Some you’ll have to keep an eye out on our What’s On page to stay updated…

  • Spoken Word Nights in the form of our Itch & Scratch events:
    • Itch – for beginners wanting to share new work.
    • Scratch – for those seeking to perform their own new and polished original work.
  • Shared Reading – discussion group to explore extracts from stories, plays and poetry, new and old.
  • Shared Writing – This event series isn’t on at the moment — get in touch to hear when it’s next happening or to learn about similar events we’ve got on.
  • Dungeons & Dragons – an opportunity to embark on a remarkable journey into the realms of fantasy, where epic adventures, memorable characters, and thrilling encounters await.
  • Drawing
    • Shakespeare North: Life Drawing – Join us for bi-weekly life drawing sessions in spaces across the venue.
    • Drawing courses Learn and master techniques for capturing facial features, expressions, perspectives, and the interplay of light and tone.
  • Guided Tours – be led through our award-winning venue, diving deep into the heritage, the rich history of Prescot and its links to Shakespeare.

We also host Technical Tours and various Craft Workshops on an occasional or recurring basis — contact us to learn more or to check what’s currently available.

 

For the Kids and Young People

Events suitable and catered to the younger ones…

  • Baby Bards – Introducing story, letters and phonics through readings and fun activities, your little ones will be Bards in no time.
  • Young Writers Club – This event series isn’t on at the moment — get in touch to hear when it’s next happening or to learn about similar events we’ve got on.
  • National Saturday Club – Join professional artists for this exciting exploration of all thing’s art and design, diving into what art can be in the 21st century.
  • Raise Your Voice – Free weekly creative workshops for young people aged 11-16, empowering you to make a real impact in your community.
  • Theatre Explorers – Our fun clue-finding guided tour for families.
