Scratch Books

Our full day workshop sessions involve the creation of scratch books to illustrate the creative process, allowing participants the time and space to reflect on a topic or text, make their own interpretations and discuss these with their peers. This process supports the development of metacognition and encourages participants to work both independently and collaboratively.

“To thine own self be true” (Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 3)

Using Shakespeare to explore self-image and identity, students will discuss characters from Shakespeare’s work and how their experiences relate to present day.

“Hearts of Gold” (Henry V, Act 4, Scene 1)

Exploring British Values and citizenship through Shakespeare (mutual respect, tolerance, individual liberty, democracy, rule of law).

Shakespeare: Environmental Activist

Exploring nature, symbolism and storytelling in imaginative ways.

Drawing workshop

Groups are invited to bring their sketchbooks to the theatre and explore the architecture through a variety of drawing activities, culminating in an artwork to take back to school.

Heritage workshop

A tour of our amazing theatre, learning all about the links to Shakespeare, famous figures and the heritage of Prescot, followed by a practical session in the Learning Centre creating Elizabethan blackwork style portraits inspired by our beautiful embroidery banner.

Finding your Voice

A 2-hour workshop focusing on building confidence, developing self-expression and performing aloud to an audience.

Careers Workshop
