What to Expect

Here's what you can expect when you come to visit us!

You’re welcome at Shakespeare North Playhouse whether you’re coming to see a show, popping in for a coffee, using a meeting room or just fancy a plain old nosy around.

To see a Visual Story of the venue, take a look here. This gives you a walk through of the building and what to expect when you arrive.

The building has three floors with lifts to all areas and accessible toilets on every level.

There are changing facilities on the Ground Floor. You can find out more about accessibility in this dedicated section of the website here.

We also have outdoor spaces – the Piazza and Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden.

Everything is very well signposted and our staff are happy to help.

When you arrive our friendly team will be ready to welcome you. They can also book your tickets, answer any questions and point you in the right direction.

Our Cockpit Theatre is a replica of the a theatre built in 1629. Seats are benches with cushions, some of which have backs. You can find out more about the design of the theatre by reading an interview with the architecture here.

We have a café/bar area where you can find a variety of delicious food and drink, served by our lovely front of house team.

We also have various seating areas throughout the building where you can relax before a performance, or sit and watch the world go by.
