Celebrating Accessibility and Innovation: Our Digital Culture Awards Nomination
Mon 20 Jan, 2025
We’re absolutely over the moon to share some incredible news: Our commitment to accessibility in theatre has been recognised by the Digital Culture Awards!
What Are the Digital Culture Awards?
Presented by Arts Council England’s Digital Culture Network, the Digital Culture Awards celebrate and showcase the best in digital and technological innovation in creativity and culture.
Since its launch in 2019, the Digital Culture Network has supported over 1,900 organisations and individuals in their digital transformation journeys. Through this work, the network continues to highlight the inspiring agility and innovation within our sector. The awards themselves are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate exceptional achievements in digital transformation, engagement, and technology use across England.
This year, they’ve introduced an exciting new category: The Digital Culture Network Award. This award celebrates outstanding commitment to developing digital skills or implementing digital technology to drive meaningful change, either within an organisation or through individual efforts.
We’ve Been Nominated!
We are so thrilled to be among the nominees for this exciting new award, recognised for our efforts to embed accessibility into theatre performances and experiences. From creative captioning in shows like Romeo and Juliet, we co-produced with Graeae Theatre Company to creating more inclusive experiences for audiences, accessibility is a cause that’s incredibly close to our hearts.
The nomination reflects our commitment to making theatre a space where everyone can engage, enjoy, and connect. Something we believe is vital for the future of the arts.
Why Accessibility Matters
Accessibility in theatre is not just about providing options; it’s about transforming how performances are created and shared to include everyone. Through tools like creative captioning, we can open up shows to audiences who might otherwise feel excluded, allowing stories to reach further and resonate more deeply.
We’re proud to see these efforts celebrated and hope this recognition sparks further conversations and actions to make culture and creativity accessible to all.
Thank You to the Digital Culture Network
We’re grateful to the Digital Culture Network and Arts Council England for spotlighting the incredible work happening across the sector and for recognising the role that technology and digital transformation play in creating a more inclusive, innovative future.
Keep an eye out as the awards ceremony approaches—we’ll be cheering alongside the other inspiring nominees and celebrating the incredible achievements of our sector.
