They Were All Some Mother’s Sons

They Were All Some Mother’s Sons is a moving and heart-warming story of peace and reconciliation.

Based on the true story of two German soldiers, Rolf Rheinlander and Eric Kirste, who were detained together as Prisoners of War in 1945 in a camp on The King George playing field in Huyton. They fell in love with local girls, married them, and chose to remain in Liverpool rather than returning to their homeland.

In times of division, this remarkable tale reminds us what’s possible when we choose compassion over conflict. A story about enemies becoming friends. About outsiders becoming family. About love winning.

A Liverpool story. A human story. A story we all need to hear.
