Shakespeare North Playhouse announces partnership with Sensified Spaces
Thu 3 Sep, 2026
Shakespeare North Playhouse is proud to announce a new partnership with Sensified Spaces, a brand-new initiative designed to help make public spaces more inclusive and sensory-friendly for neurodivergent people and those with sensory sensitivities.
Sensified Spaces is developing a TripAdvisor-style platform that will help people better understand the sensory experiences they may encounter in public spaces. By sharing practical insights, lived experiences and recommendations, the platform aims to make environments feel more accessible, comfortable and predictable.
As one of the first venue participants in the initiative, Shakespeare North Playhouse will work closely with the Sensified Spaces team to explore how the sensory experience of visiting the Playhouse can be improved for neurodivergent visitors and people with sensory needs.
“Shakespeare North Playhouse has been designed with accessibility in mind, and we know that an accessible building is only one part of creating an inclusive experience. We want to look more closely at how we can support neurodivergent visitors and people with sensory needs, helping them to feel more comfortable and confident when they visit us.
“We’re excited to partner with Sensified Spaces to build on the work we’ve already done and learn even more about how we can make Shakespeare North Playhouse a place where neurodivergent visitors and people with sensory needs feel supported and are able to enjoy everything we have to offer.”
The partnership will bring together lived experience, sensory insights and practical recommendations to help Shakespeare North Playhouse better understand the different sensory experiences visitors may encounter throughout their visit.
For Sensified Spaces, the partnership represents an opportunity to work with a venue that has already placed accessibility at the heart of its approach.
“We’re really excited to be working with Shakespeare North Playhouse and to have them joining us on the Sensified journey. It’s fantastic to work with an organisation that genuinely cares about creating a more welcoming and accessible experience for its visitors, and we’re looking forward to working together to better understand sensory needs and make a meaningful difference.”
The partnership reflects a shared belief that creating more inclusive spaces is an ongoing journey. By listening to people with lived experience, learning more about sensory needs and making practical changes, Shakespeare North Playhouse and Sensified Spaces hope to help more people feel comfortable, confident and able to enjoy the Playhouse.
We’re looking forward to sharing more about the partnership and the work we’ll be doing together in the months ahead.
