Finding Us

Shakespeare North Playhouse is very easy to get to by car, train, bus, on foot or by bike.

You’ll find us in the brand new Prospero Place in Prescot, L34 3AB. Just around the corner as you reach the end of Eccleston Street.

If you need to ask for directions, it might help to mention we are right by the Bus Station and Prescot Parish Church.

Getting to Shakespeare North Playhouse

We are in Prescot town centre and easily found on foot, just 5 minutes walk from Prescot Shopping Centre and Cables Retail Park.

We have bike racks at the front of the building and you’ll find more on Eccleston Street just a few minutes’ walk away.

There are plenty more car parks in the local area, take a look at the map below.

Prescot is easily reached by car and is 2 minutes from the M57 and 10 minutes from the M62.

Alternative Long-Stay Parking 

  • Cyprus Street Car Park (L34 5RY) – Free short-stay and long-stay parking with accessible bays and EV charging points, around 10 minutes on foot (400).

Accessible Parking

There are available bays in Mill Street and Cyprus Street car parks. You’ll also find a limited number of Blue Badge spaces closer to the venue – use postcode L34 3AB in your sat nav and follow the signs.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Need to top up your battery? You’ll find EV charging points at:

  • Cables Shopping Park (L34 5NQ)
  • Tesco Extra (L34 5NQ)
  • Cyprus Street Car Park (L34 5RY)

Prescot Train Station is around a 12 minute walk. Be aware there isn’t a taxi rank at the station, search Google for local taxis to book in advance.

– Trains from Manchester, 1hr 20 – change at Wigan or Huyton.

– Journeys from the North change at St Helens & Wigan.

– Journeys from the East change at Manchester & Wigan.

– Journeys from the South change at Liverpool.

There are regular buses from Liverpool to Prescot (1 hour journey time).

There is a bus stop directly outside the theatre, where you can get buses into both St Helens and Liverpool after your visit.

Prescot Bus Station is a 1 minute walk away.

The nearest taxi rank is at Market Place.

What To Expect

You’re welcome at Shakespeare North Playhouse whether you’re coming to see a show, popping in for a coffee, using a meeting room or just fancy a plain old nosy around.

The building has three floors with lifts to all areas and accessible toilets on every level.

There are changing facilities on the Ground Floor. You can find out more about accessibility in this dedicated section of the website here.

We also have outdoor spaces – the Piazza and Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden.

Everything is very well signposted and our staff are happy to help.

When you arrive our friendly team will be ready to welcome you. They can also book your tickets, answer any questions and point you in the right direction.

Our Cockpit Theatre is a replica of the a theatre built in 1629. Seats are benches with cushions, some of which have backs. You can find out more about the design of the theatre by reading an interview with the architecture here.

We have a café/bar area where you can find a variety of delicious food and drink, served by our lovely front of house team.

We also have various seating areas throughout the building where you can relax before a performance, or sit and watch the world go by.
