A drunken patron, Sly, falls victim to our gang of Unseemly Women. As Sly wakes from his wild night, he is convinced he is not a drunken fool, but a Lord of great status and wealth. Our Unseemly Women spin him a tale about a wealthy merchant of Padua, and his two daughters: Katerina and Bianca. Because of Katerina’s “shrewish” disposition, her father has declared that no one shall wed Bianca until such a time as Katerina has been married. But maybe the two tales are not as unconnected as they seem…
Unseemly Women return in 2024 with their 6th annual Shakespeare, with an all female and non-binary cast.

This show has
HER Productions, alongside Girl Gang Manchester & Unseemly Women, launched an explosive ALL FEMALE SHAKESPEARE in 2018, premiering with Romeo & Juliet at Hope Mill Theatre. Since then, HER have staged annual productions, which rebranded in 2021 to ‘Unseemly Shakespeare’ to welcome non-binary creatives. Unseemly Shakespeare offer a quality alternative Shakespeare for those who have felt unrepresented in classics. They are proudly regional and aim to champion local voices, as well as local actors.
